Construction is an industry where tradition is king. There’s a set method of doing things, one that’s comfortable and familiar. What if there was a better way? What if new methods could make your job faster, safer, and more efficient? At ADF Engineering, we believe there’s a solution that takes the stress and inefficiency out of the construction process. We invite you to step outside of your comfort zone and into the world of Piping 1-2-3. Try it on one project and we’re confident you won’t go back to traditional onsite construction methods. See how this synergistic, three-step process can benefit your business.
Step 1: Engineering—defining the scope
The first step to any successful project is to understand and fully define the scope of the project. Our initial process begins with reviewing and analyzing your scope definition. If you do not yet have this developed, our team helps you define the scope of your project and finish the process engineering. Once the project scope is in place, we continue with a 3D laser scan of your project area. The final component of the engineering step is a planning process with our contractors and shop fabricators. We discuss what parts of piping to be fabricated in the shop, what field connections to be made, and where to provide supports.
Step 2: the fabrication —stepping outside your comfort zone
The idea of moving to offsite fabrication may seem daunting at first. Were the onsite measurements taken accurately? Will the pipes fit together during assembly? Our 3D laser scanning is the critical step that turns the piping 1-2-3 process into a reality. We take extremely accurate measurements with this technology, allowing us to custom fabricate your piping in a controlled shop environment. In this setting, we are able to manage the quality of every aspect and every weld. This ensures that everything aligns perfectly when it is time for installation. The precision of this step also significantly contributes to cost savings. See what one of our fabrication partners has to say about the process.
“By moving production to a factory setting we are able to produce higher quality welds since we do not have to adjust for weather elements (wind, rain, etc) and use dedicated machines for accurate cuts. Moving production offsite removes the hurdles of obtaining hot work permits and missed deadlines due to rain-outs. The piping 1-2-3 method also increases speed, which leads to cost savings and reliable delivery times.”—Mike Wilson, Piping Fabricator
Step 3: Installation
Once the piping is prefabricated, our contractor does the final assessment, matching the product to your site specifics. In addition, all field connections are discussed with pipefitters to ensure ease of installation. Your fabricated piping is installed in a fraction of the time taken by traditional onsite construction methods. Another major benefit of Piping 1-2-3 is safety on the job site. This method minimizes scaffolding during construction and the potential for accidents is dramatically reduced.
The Piping 1-2-3 advantage
Our unique process makes every aspect of the job easier. From a cost perspective, Piping 1-2-3 provides an opportunity to leverage lower costs due to reduced time in the field. In addition, shop fabrication is far more efficient with a dedicated setup that’s designed for cutting and welding. When you move fabrication offsite, you minimize the number of permits, rules, and procedures required, creating an efficient, cost-effective process.
With the Piping 1-2-3 approach, it’s much easier to get a clear price upfront, rather than stringing together various costs and unforeseen fees that come with onsite construction. Overall, our Piping 1-2-3 method is efficient, effective, and delivers the highest quality product. Here is some feedback from one of our recent clients.
“When done properly this approach should and will save money. The setup, cleanliness, and efficiency of shop fabrication make this process more efficient when compared to onsite builds. Another great benefit is this approach requires fewer permits and fewer people to manage inside the plant”.—Confidential, Satisfied Client
